SHE hosted a very special surfing holiday in Bali in May: a week to celebrate Mums and daughters and their unique relationship.
Sue had surfed with us on an earlier trip in 2014. She was keen to share the same experience with her adult daughters - Amy and Hannah, 24 and 22 years old respectively.
It was a pleasure to spend a week with the ladies (the remainder of the family, 2 boys and Sue's husband, sitting back in chilly Inverloch, Victoria, were increasingly envious as the days went by!). The girls had surfed once or twice before so, on our first day together, spent time with Frengki, our lead surf instructor, refreshing the basics. Sue paddled out with another of our instructors and took no time feeling comfortable again in the beautiful warm water. It was a perfect first day - smiles all round!
Each day the ladies' skills in the water progressed; the personalised coaching by our surf instructors helped them achieve far more than they had imagined possible, working up to a surf on one of our favourite breaks, Kuta Reef. And at the end of each session, feeling exhilarated but in need of some down time after the physical activity, it was time to relax in the villa, unwind with a massage, and lie by the pool. We added yoga sessions to stretch out sore muscles, and wrapped up our days sharing wonderful dining experiences in and around Seminyak.
As the week drew to an end, and the ladies reluctantly headed for the airport, Sue shared her thoughts about the holiday with us:
"The girls and I had an amazing time in Bali. Hannah talked all the way to the airport about it being her favourite holiday of all time, she said she felt the most relaxed she has for ages, and is dying to get into the surf. What she really liked was the combination of supreme luxury, lack of decisions to be made, and the focus required to surf and do yoga.
Amy has been telling everybody how great it was. Yet again a completely successful week. Apart from the great program with just the right mix of activity and lazy time, I also really enjoyed all the different cafes and restaurants. Knowing where to go really makes a difference to the Bali experience. I can’t even make any suggestions as to how you could improve it, I really think you have it nailed. I simply tell people it is my perfect holiday.
Once again thank you for an amazing holiday, and yes I will be back!"
SHE can't wait to surf with you again Sue!
